The double height space was created by cutting through the floor of the former City Hall Annex building. The red panelled walls feature cut-out windows of interactive touchscreens.
The area is anchored by a subway seat provided by Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR). It is an essential part of Hong Kong’s transportation network, carrying an average of 4.8 million passengers daily over a network of 93 stations.
The 17-minute video production gives a concise history of how Hong Kong developed from a small fishing village to the bustling metropolis of today. Content is displayed on 2 screens with additional projection mapping on the floor model of Victoria Harbour and the topographic map of Hong kong on the wall.
This gallery featured sustainable bamboo flooring and Ecopanel wall panels made from recycled materials. The area also allows great views looking out over Victoria Harbour.
The gallery looked at some of the unique flora and fauna found in Hong Kong and included a photo booth for snapping selfies and emailing to friends and family.
The interactive table featured transparent projection touchscreens at either end and table top stations with AR cameras, where visitors learned about local architectural design constraints such as wind loading and ridge sightlines.
